THE FOUNDATION
Mission Statement The Jabboury Foundation is dedicated to eliminating cancer diseases through research, screening, early detection and education. The Jabboury Foundation for Cancer Research, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was originally founded in 1993 to bring clinical cancer research to the community but in the years to follow the Foundation has expanded its mission. In 2002 the Foundation became a site for genetic screening, counseling, and education of individuals determined to be at-risk for several inherited forms of cancer. The Foundation also provides cancer related educational programs to health care staff and lay people and actively promotes cancer screening and prevention in the community. A monthly cancer support group has been running since 2005 and in the month of October a Cancer Survivor Celebration is held. The Foundation is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors; representing a broad spectrum of community leaders. The board members are charged with guiding the Foundation in the areas of fiscal management, public relations, and long range planning. The Foundation’s scientific advisory committee reports to the board of directors and consists of 10 academic, medical and pharmacological specialists. The committee meets regularly and plays an integral role in the quality control aspects of the Foundation and its research. In the past 16 years, the scientific advisory committee has overseen the completion of several successful studies involving breast and lung cancer treatment protocols, with the promising results of these efforts being reported through the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research. The Foundation currently conducts three annual fundraising events. The MS 150 “Host Family Program” takes place in La Grange in April, the spring gala “Wine and Roses” is held in May and the "Annual Golf Classic Golf” is held in October.
